Net Worth Glossary
Non-Registered Investment: - an investment which is not held in a tax sheltered (registered) plan such as an RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan) or RRIF (Registered Retirement Income Fund) and for which income generated is taxable in the year that it is earned.
Registered Investment: - an investment that is held in a tax sheltered or deferred plan such as an RRSP (Registered Retirement Savings Plan), LRSP (Locked-In RRSP), RRIF (Registered Retirement Income Fund), LRIF (Locked-In RRIF), LIF (Life Income Fund), LIRA (Locked-In Retirement Account) or RPP (Registered Pension Plan).
Cash Assets: savings accounts, Redeemable GICs, Money Market Funds, etc.
Income Assets: Non-Redeemable GICs, Canada Savings Bonds, Other Bonds, Income Funds, Dividend Funds, Mortgage Funds, etc.
Growth Assets: Common Shares, Equity Funds, Stock Indexed GICs, etc.
Investment Loan: RRSP Loan, Loans to purchase Canada Savings Bonds, etc.
Professional Payments: Professional Association Membership Fees, Professional Licensing Fees, Professional Insurance Fees, etc.
